The best part of this collection is the final section of miscellaneous newspaper reviews and demi-essays, which reveals Taylor at his pithiest and wittiest. The section on Prime Ministers is harder to evaluate, because I know almost nothing about some of them.However, the standards of insights and style are consistently excellent, which is only to be expected from the greatest modern British historian.
